Phil vs Tonya

Phil was eager to get going in this match. He’d had a long suspension and hasn’t lost since he returned. When we asked what he thought of his chances in the Championship Tourney, he looked and angrily said “It’s all girls left!”.

We were about to see if his confidence was warranted.

Tonya on the other hand seemed hesitant. She’s had a tremendous uprising after a slow start in the league. Was her recent streak a fluke, or indicative that she’s really improving. It should be noticed that much of her tough spots in her time in the league has sometimes been against the men, rather than the women.

Phil started out aggressive, as you’d expect. He bulldozed Tonya over and kept her on the defensive.

Phil’s lack of tactics, worked out in Tonya’s favor, however. Barreling his way on top of her with no concern, allowed he to strap on her favorite hold: the bodyscissor/head grab combo.

Suddenly Phil was all wrapped up with no place to go; just like many others before him that have faced Tonya of late. Her big voluptuous body turns out to be perfect for wrapping up and entombing her opponents.

But Phil isn’t just any opponent. He breaks free. She wraps him again. He breaks free.

Phil was too strong.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Phil looked to humiliate Tonya with a particularly embarrassing hold he likes to use. It backfired and Tonya’s legs snapped around his neck.

Phil was all locked up now. Studdering and stammering, Phil was in a state he’s rarely ever been seen.

Worried.

But still, he’s strong. Just when Tonya had him down for the count, Phil managed to gain enough leverage to twist himself out.

Suddenly it was Tonya in trouble.

Phil had Tonya tight in a headlock and she was fading fast.

Every time she tried to wrap his head up with her legs for a counter, he fought free and kept on his headlock.

One more try was all she needed.

After an intense back and forth, Tonya eventually gained control. A lockup reverse headscissor had Phil in emergency mode. Tonya squeezed the arrogance right out of his head, making him regret his earlier boasting. 

Even Phil proved to be no match for Tonya’s big legs as she forced him into verbal submission.

Tonya gives Phil a special victory pose at the end that leaves the big man humbled, while she moves on to Round 2 against Kara.

Congrats to Tonya for overcoming a big effort from Phil!
