Astrid vs Carina

Both women looked extremely motivated to start this match. 

Astrid in particular came out of the gate running. Literally. 

Astrid knew she was at a size disadvantage against leggy Carina. When the face off came, Astrid stood at a distance from Carina. We didn’t realize until it was time to start that she was doing this to get a running start on her. She looked to negate her size disadvantage by barreling Carina over and take the fight down to the mats from step 1, before the taller opponent could take her down.

Technically, it worked; Carina fell backwards with her legs swinging into the air. 

That’s when Astrid was instantly snapped into a headscissor. She had charged head-first right into it.

Astrid was in a rage… but she couldn’t get out.

Carina made her stubborn opponent pass out in the front headscissor, earning yet another victory for herself. 

This was a single round match with no penalty, so Carina was able to leave the mats with her head held high before Astrid even woke up, having not broken a sweat. Once Astrid did wake, she was furious. Astrid had a little temper tantrum, kicking over her chair and water bottle before leaving.

Carina improves her record as she finds herself moving up the rankings rather quickly of late. Her headscissor knockout win may also have been one of the quickest match wins in league history (we’ll have to check!).

This dominant victory comes right after a previous dominant victory where she nearly made Mel’s head explode with her scissor holds. It will be interesting to see who might give Carina some trouble on the roster as she keeps trying to move up. With this win, Carina has pretty clearly moved past Mel in the top 5 race — a fact we might not have believed ourselves if you told us a few weeks ago!
